Summary
Develop your commercial career in a remote-working role with responsibility across defence bids, contracts and supplier relationships. Build towards broader commercial ownership with structured support. You will provide hands-on commercial and contractual support across a varied portfolio of defence projects, from identifying opportunities and preparing bids through to contract delivery and close-out.
Working closely with finance, operational leadership and delivery teams, you will help maintain effective commercial governance, manage risk and support sound contractual decisions. As your experience develops, you will have opportunities to take greater ownership of contracts, suppliers and bids.

Location and travel
This is a remote-working role within the UK, associated with Hampshire. You will need flexibility to undertake occasional ad hoc travel as required. The role is a permanent position, open to full-time and part-time applications.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Administering customer contracts, subcontracts and supply chain orders, maintaining accurate contractual and supplier records.
  • Managing change control, assessing the commercial implications of changes and preparing proposals for additional tasks and contract amendments.
  • Monitoring contractual milestones, reporting requirements and other obligations to help delivery teams meet their commitments.
  • Reviewing customer terms and conditions and framework agreements, identifying risks and preparing negotiating positions.
  • Supporting tender submissions with accurate commercial input, coordinating contributions and securing the necessary internal approvals.
  • Working with finance colleagues to understand price builds, review financial models and explain proposed pricing approaches to senior stakeholders.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and commercial and legal colleagues to resolve contractual matters and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Applying commercial processes consistently and identifying improvements that strengthen governance, reduce risk and deliver better value.
Your Experience
  • Pre-contract and post-contract management, including supporting bid teams and negotiating changes to existing agreements.
  • UK defence procurement processes, including Prior Information Notices, Defence Pre-Qualification Questionnaires, Invitations to Tender and Invitations to Negotiate.
  • Experience participating in Ministry of Defence dialogue sessions and working with Defence Conditions of Contract.
  • Interpreting, drafting and negotiating contractual terms and pre-contract documents such as memoranda of understanding and teaming agreements.
  • Working with customers and suppliers at different levels of the supply chain, identifying commercial risks and establishing sound negotiating positions.
  • Interpreting financial models and pricing information, communicating commercial recommendations clearly and identifying opportunities to improve contract value.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities, maintaining attention to detail and taking responsibility for your work.
  • A qualification in law, business or finance is desirable. Equivalent practical experience is also welcomed.
Additional useful experience includes other public sector procurement processes, UK export and import regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations and contracting with overseas organisations or governments. Membership of a relevant commercial or procurement professional body would also be an advantage.

Essential requirements
  • Experience supporting contracts before and after award.
  • Knowledge of UK Ministry of Defence procurement and Defence Conditions of Contract.
  • Experience contributing to bids and negotiating contractual changes.
Salary and working arrangements
The role offers a base salary up to £55,000 per annum. On top of the capability to work remotely, additional benefits include:
  • Family medical and dental cover.
  • Career development support and progression pathways.
  • Flexible working.
  • Two paid volunteering days plus five additional paid days for reservist volunteering.
