MEP Design Manager – Lifts & Escalators Location: North Acton, London – Hybrid, minimum 3 days onsite

We are recruiting an MEP Design Manager with Lifts & Escalators experience to join one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure programmes.

This is a long-term contract opportunity taking responsibility for specialist lift and escalator MEP design packages, working closely with package managers, engineering teams and major lift/escalator suppliers.

You don't need 20+ years' experience or to have operated at senior management level. The key requirement is strong Lifts & Escalators and MEP design experience, combined with the ability to proactively take ownership of packages and drive them through detailed design, approval and into construction.

The Role You will manage specialist MEP design packages through detailed design and Design for Construction & Manufacturing, ensuring technical requirements, programme commitments, design assurance and compliance requirements are achieved.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing lift and escalator design packages and specialist suppliers
  
  
• Managing Stage 5 design deliverables through review, approval and certification
  
  
• Coordinating specialist lift/escalator suppliers with wider MEP, engineering and construction teams
  
  
• Managing design reviews and driving actions through to technical sign-off
  
  
• Resolving technical queries, design issues, scope gaps and interface issues
  
  
• Monitoring supplier design deliverables, quality and programme
  
  
• Managing interfaces between Stage 4 and Stage 5 designers
  
  
• Ensuring designs meet project standards, technical requirements and relevant legislation
  
  
• Working with technical assurance, quality, engineering, commercial and delivery teams
  
  
• Managing design documentation and coordinating multidisciplinary reviews
  
  
• Supporting design risk reviews and ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations 2015
  
  
• Taking ownership of packages and proactively driving them through to completion
  
  

What We're Looking For Essential:

• Demonstrable lifts and/or escalators experience within design, construction, engineering or package management
  
  
• MEP design or design management experience
  
  
• Experience managing specialist design packages and/or suppliers
  
  
• Detailed design experience within an MEP environment
  
  
• Strong understanding of design reviews, technical assurance and approvals
  
  
• Ability to identify and resolve technical and interface issues
  
  
• Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills
  
  
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
  
  
• Good understanding of CDM 2015
  
  
• Ability to work independently and proactively
  
  
• Strong communication skills
  
  

Experience gained working with major lift and escalator manufacturers such as OTIS, KONE, Schindler or TK Elevator would be particularly relevant.
