Functional Systems Engineer, Verification & Certification
Salary: Up to £57,000 depending on experience
Location: Bristol
Hybrid working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security: BPSS, with nationality and right-to-work restrictions applying
Electus Recruitment Solutions is supporting a leading high-technology engineering organisation with an opportunity for a Functional Systems Engineer specialising in Verification, Validation and Certification.
You will join a multidisciplinary systems engineering team supporting the development, delivery and certification of a complex defence system. The role is focused on analysing technical evidence, demonstrating compliance against requirements and supporting certification activities through to customer delivery.
Key responsibilities
  • Capture, review and assess technical evidence against system and functional requirements
  • Conduct technical investigations and identify verification gaps
  • Support the preparation and review of compliance documentation, verification reports and certification evidence
  • Review technical documentation supporting functional evidence
  • Review and agree Design Verification Plans
  • Support design reconciliation activities associated with design changes and obsolescence
  • Track verification issues and support corrective actions
  • Work collaboratively across systems, mechanical, electrical, software and other engineering disciplines
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes through more efficient working practices and automation
About you
You will have experience in a systems engineering, verification, validation or certification environment, with a strong analytical approach and the ability to assess technical evidence against defined requirements.
Ideally, you will bring:
  • Experience using IBM Rational DOORS Classic
  • Experience analysing evidence and assessing compliance against requirements
  • Knowledge of Verification and Validation (V&V) processes and methodologies
  • Experience producing or reviewing compliance documentation and certification evidence
  • The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong attention to detail and structured problem-solving skills
