Summary
Take ownership of a major IT procurement transformation programme with a leading Defence manufacturer, where you can broaden your commercial influence and develop beyond a traditional buying role. You will gain exposure to complex strategic projects and international stakeholders with opportunities to progress both within procurement leadership and into broader commercial or programme-focused roles. The role is focused on IT transformation, but candidates can come from other procurement backgrounds where they have successfully led complex strategic programmes.
Where you will be based
The role is based in the Greater Manchester area with hybrid-working. This is a permanent, full-time role.
What you will be doing
This position offers development in more than one direction. You could build towards increasingly senior procurement, category or programme leadership responsibilities while strengthening your ownership of complex strategic activity.
There is also scope for non-linear development. Exposure to transformation, international stakeholder management, supplier strategy and wider programme delivery can build transferable experience for future moves into adjacent commercial, transformation or programme-focused positions.
The breadth comes from the role itself, which combines ownership of a large procurement project with international relationship building and strategic supplier management.

What you will be doing
- Lead procurement activity across a high-profile business transformation programme
- Manage strategic sourcing exercises to identify and engage suitable supply partners
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and develop scopes of work
- Negotiate, develop and manage commercial contracts
- Shape supplier relationship strategies and drive performance, value creation and issue resolution
- Collaborate with international colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers throughout programme delivery
- Experience delivering complex procurement projects or programmes
- Strong strategic sourcing and commercial capability
- Supplier and contract management experience
- Ability to build effective internal and external relationships
- Confidence taking ownership of significant procurement activity
- Experience working internationally or across geographically dispersed stakeholders would be valuable
- Strong procurement experience with ownership of complex strategic projects or programmes
- Confident managing senior stakeholders and supplier relationships
- Comfortable operating across international teams and stakeholders
