The opportunity
Are you an experienced Validation and Verification Engineer looking for the opportunity to take ownership of V&V activities within a complex, high-technology engineering environment?
This is an opportunity to join a major defence engineering programme where you will lead the definition of test scenarios, success criteria and verification activities for a sophisticated command and control system.
You will work across the product development lifecycle, collaborating with engineering, design and project stakeholders to ensure requirements are effectively verified and that test evidence demonstrates the required system performance.
The role offers the opportunity to develop your technical and leadership skills while contributing to the delivery of complex systems that support critical operational capability.

The role
As Validation and Verification Lead, you will lead a small team responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering V&V activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading a small team undertaking validation and verification activities
  • Defining test scenarios and test descriptions to support software and system testing
  • Developing verification plans and agreeing appropriate verification methods with relevant engineering authorities
  • Populating requirements compliance matrices to generate evidence against requirements
  • Analysing test results to validate software and system operation
  • Supporting issue resolution during testing
  • Analysing evidence and contributing to technical, safety and security reports
  • Producing metrics to track progress and provide accurate project status
  • Working with wider engineering and project stakeholders throughout the systems development process
  • Monitoring progress against project schedules and forecasting completion dates
  • Supporting change management activities and managing the implementation of requirements changes
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements
What we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced Validation and Verification professional with a strong understanding of systems engineering and software verification.
You will ideally have:
  • Detailed knowledge of Validation and Verification processes
  • Experience developing software or system design definition baselines from requirements through to products ready for testing
  • Experience leading small engineering teams and delivering planned outcomes
  • The ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess requirements, test evidence and technical reports
  • Experience using DOORS, Rhapsody or similar requirements, engineering or configuration management tools
  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant engineering experience, preferably within a STEM discipline
This role would suit candidates with backgrounds in Validation and Verification, Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Software Verification, Requirements Engineering or Defence Systems Engineering who are looking to take the next step in technical leadership.

What's on offer
  • Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience
  • Company performance-related bonus
  • Pension contribution of up to 14% combined employer and employee contribution
  • Paid overtime opportunities
  • Up to 15 additional days of flexi leave
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Excellent site facilities including subsidised meals and free car parking
