Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: Competitive Contract Rate (Inside IR35)
Location: Wincanton – On-Site
This is a temporary role, initially 3-6 months with potential for extension
Support the development of locally manufactured products within a specialist engineering environment as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
This temporary role offers the chance to work on varied design challenges, applying your mechanical design expertise to improve manufacturing processes and bring existing products into local production.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for reverse engineering metal and plastic products, creating manufacturing drawings and working closely with design, operations and procurement teams. Using SolidWorks 3D CAD to BS8888 standards, you will help identify practical improvements to product design, tooling, materials, cost and production efficiency.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for reverse engineering metal and plastic products, creating manufacturing drawings and working closely with design, operations and procurement teams. Using SolidWorks 3D CAD to BS8888 standards, you will help identify practical improvements to product design, tooling, materials, cost and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reverse engineer existing sheet metal and injection moulded products
- Produce detailed technical drawings to support manufacture and procurement
- Work with internal teams to identify design and production improvements
- Specify appropriate materials and tooling
- Assess production methods to improve efficiency, cost and safety
Requirements:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD
- Knowledge of BS8888 and similar standards
- Experience with reverse engineering and technical drawing
- Understanding of sheet metal and injection moulding processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
