Systems Architect – Mission Planning (MBSE)

Location: Bristol (Hybrid – 3 to 5 days onsite)
Salary: Permanent - Up to £54,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Architect to join a growing team responsible for developing the Mission Planning systems that support next generation strike capabilities across air and maritime platforms.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with practical Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you'll help define and evolve system architectures that underpin advanced defence technologies.

The Role
Working as part of the Mission Planning & Control team, you'll support the development of system architectures across multiple product lines using MBSE principles and industry standard modelling tools.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and evolving system architectures using Model Based Systems Engineering techniques.
  • Producing and reviewing architectural models and design artefacts.
  • Working closely with engineering teams to capture, refine and communicate system designs.
  • Supporting engineering milestones, technical reviews and design assurance activities.
  • Ensuring architectural models are complete, coherent and support successful system development.
  • Maintaining traceability between requirements, architecture and design.
  • Promoting common solutions and re use across multiple product lines.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges.
About You
You'll have a background in Systems Engineering or Systems Architecture together with practical experience of MBSE within a complex engineering environment.
We're looking for candidates with:
  • Experience in Systems Architecture and Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • Practical experience using IBM Rhapsody or an equivalent modelling tool.
  • Experience with Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) or equivalent configuration management tools.
  • Experience using DOORS Next Generation or an equivalent requirements management tool.
  • A good understanding of SysML and architectural modelling principles.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience within Mission Planning or defence systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
