Shape strategic procurement work where you can broaden your influence across a varied technology landscape and deepen your market understanding. This role gives you the space to refine category strategies, work closely with senior stakeholders and take ownership of decisions that help guide long term technology direction.

Your role
  • Develop category strategies that reflect future demand and market shifts, ensuring procurement approaches remain robust, competitive and aligned to longer term technology direction.
    • Build and manage relationships with key suppliers, exploring new market opportunities and identifying where emerging technologies or delivery models may influence future choices.
    • Lead end to end procurement activity for designated categories, working with stakeholders to shape requirements, define sourcing approaches and deliver commercially sound outcomes.
    • Support wider organisational aims by contributing to cross functional discussions, helping shape procurement roadmaps and advising on how category strategy influences broader decision making.
    • Provide guidance to colleagues involved in technology procurement, supporting upskilling and helping them navigate more complex commercial or strategic issues.
Your Experience
  • Background in category management or senior procurement roles with a focus on technology related spend areas such as software, hardware, networks or digital services.
    • Ability to assess markets and distil complex information into clear, actionable procurement strategies that others can follow.
    • Experience guiding or mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting delivery across large or multi site teams.
    • Proven commercial acumen with confidence managing supplier negotiations, evaluating risk and presenting recommendations.
    • Comfortable working with international teams where alignment and communication are key to effective delivery.
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously.
Essential requirements
  • Strong experience leading technology procurement activity at category management level with the ability to translate organisational needs into structured category plans that guide decisions.
    • Clear understanding of how different technology markets operate including the risks, supplier behaviours and commercial levers that shape value.
    • Ability to work within a complex organisation where priorities shift and where effective relationship building is essential for successful delivery.
    • Confident communicator able to present procurement approaches, negotiate with suppliers and influence stakeholders across different functions.
Where you will work
Based in Bristol with a hybrid pattern that combines on site collaboration with remote working. Other locations are also available.

Salary and rewards
£65,000 to £75,000 depending on experience.
