Critical Technical Role: Programme Manager, Nuclear Assurance
We are recruiting an exceptional technical leader, not just a manager, to drive the Operational Safety Case (OSC) renewal programme at HMNB Clyde. This role is essential for integrating the Dreadnought Class and maintaining full operational compliance for Astute/Vanguard submarines.
Mandatory Expertise: Nuclear Safety & Submarine Operations
This position requires deep, demonstrable subject matter expertise above traditional programme management experience. We seek candidates who can immediately contribute at a technical and operational level:
Your Technical Mission You will technically lead the verification, publication, and delivery of a multi-year safety programme, acting as the ultimate authority for safety assurance and operational readiness within your scope.

This position requires deep, demonstrable subject matter expertise above traditional programme management experience. We seek candidates who can immediately contribute at a technical and operational level:
- Nuclear Watchkeeper Qualification is Essential: Must possess prior operational qualification as a Category A Nuclear Watchkeeper (or equivalent Duly Authorised Person/Nuclear Reactor Plant Manager).
- Safety Case Authority: Proven expert-level experience in managing, reviewing, and enforcing Nuclear Safety Case (OSC) documentation and governance within a UK naval nuclear environment.
- Compliance Lead: Direct experience ensuring regulatory compliance with the Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator (DNSR), specifically managing and auditing Authorisation Conditions (ACs), particularly AC7 (Incident Reporting).
- Event Reporting & Analysis: Expertise in the full lifecycle of Nuclear Site Event Reporting (NSER), including conducting rigorous root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Platform Specific Knowledge: Detailed technical and operational knowledge of UK Submarine Classes (Vanguard, Astute, and/or Dreadnought) and their associated maintenance (BMPs) and training requirements.
- Emergency Response: Proven ability to fulfil senior technical roles within a Nuclear Emergency Response Organisation (NERO).
