Mechanical Analysis Engineer (FEA Specialist)
Must be SC clearable
We are partnered with a world-leading Defence engineering firm specialising in counter-mine and combat engineering equipment. This is an opportunity to join a growing product design team in a newly created, permanent position that will significantly contribute to the next generation of military engineering systems. The client is committed to innovation and is involved in cutting-edge projects and future research in areas such as robotics.

The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be the primary Finite Element Analysis specialist, responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and reliability of complex, heavy-duty military equipment. You will be expected to move beyond simple reporting to provide actionable technical insights that directly influence design outcomes and optimise performance under extreme load cases. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional design and test teams.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute complex FEA models for detailed structural analysis.
  • Interpret simulation results to provide definitive, data-driven design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to validate simulation models against physical test results.
  • Produce clear, technically rigorous documentation detailing analysis methodologies, assumptions, and findings.
  • Support root cause analysis of product failures using advanced simulation techniques.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant subject.
  • Proven commercial experience using Ansys Workbench, Mechanical, and Spaceclaim.
  • Expertise in stress analysis of heavy plated structures, welded fabrications, and bolted/pin-jointed assemblies.
  • Strong theoretical grounding in solid mechanics and material properties.
  • Experience with 3D CAD and Product Data Management (PDM) systems, preferably Autodesk Inventor and Vault.

Desirable Traits
  • Experience with non-linear analysis and complex dynamic simulations (e.g., Algoryx Momentum or similar MBD packages).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering design principles alongside analysis.
Due to the nature of work at our client’s site, these vacancies are only open to those willing to obtain SC clearance
