Nuclear Engineer
Location: Glasgow, Bristol, or Gloucester
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience)
Working: Hybrid – split between home, client sites, and office
A leading UK-based engineering consultancy is seeking experienced Nuclear Engineers to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across high-impact projects that contribute to the UK’s Net Zero goals and support the safe operation, development, and decommissioning of civil nuclear facilities.
You’ll work with a wide range of clients across the nuclear sector, from current reactor operations and new build developments to the decommissioning of legacy sites.

You’ll work with a wide range of clients across the nuclear sector, from current reactor operations and new build developments to the decommissioning of legacy sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engineering strategies to solve complex nuclear challenges.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation to meet client expectations.
- Apply your technical knowledge across various nuclear technologies and project phases.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and clients.
- Manage and deliver engineering projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement.
- Build and maintain strong, lasting client relationships.
- Developing safety cases for new nuclear power stations.
- Designing containment systems for Small Modular Reactors.
- Evaluating novel technologies for waste management in decommissioning.
- Supporting engineering during planned maintenance outages.
- Authoring safety documentation for system upgrades on operational reactors.
- Creating R&D plans for emerging nuclear applications.
- Providing early-stage engineering input for future power station projects.
- Degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience within the nuclear industry or similarly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of UK nuclear standards and safety regulations.
- Hands-on experience in design, commissioning, or resolving technical issues on major engineering plants.
- Strong problem-solving and client communication skills.
- Awareness of key operators and stakeholders in the UK nuclear sector.
