Senior Nuclear Modelling Consultant

Salary:£60000 - £70000 per annum
Location: Greater Manchester, North West, England
Consultant:Mark Day
Telephone:tel:01202204083

As a Senior Nuclear Modelling Consultant, in a sector where precision and safety are paramount, this role offers the chance to shape the future of nuclear systems through advanced modelling and analysis. You’ll be part of a consultancy partnership that supports some of the most technically demanding projects in the UK’s energy landscape.

From the first day, you’ll be trusted to lead. Whether it’s refining a thermal-hydraulic model, interpreting complex multiphase flows, or guiding a client through the implications of a transient analysis, your expertise will be central to critical decisions. The work is varied, often fast-paced, and always meaningful.

You’ll use tools like RELAP, TRACE, GOTHIC or CATHARE to simulate nuclear plant behaviour, validate models, and support safety case development. But this isn’t just about technical depth—it’s about communication. You’ll translate complex results into clear insights, helping clients understand risk, performance and compliance.

The environment is hybrid and flexible. You’ll split your time between home, office and client sites in either Manchester or Bristol. Projects range from short-term technical challenges to long-term strategic programmes, giving you the chance to grow your skills and influence.
To succeed, you’ll need experience with nuclear systems codes and a strong grasp of thermal-hydraulics. A degree in engineering, physics or applied mathematics is essential. Coding skills in Python or MATLAB are a bonus, but not a barrier.

This is a role for someone who thrives on complexity, values autonomy and wants to make a tangible impact in the nuclear sector.

Due to the nature of work at our client’s site, these vacancies are only open to British Citizens who can satisfy UK National Security Vetting requirements.

This is a permanent role.
