Electronic Trials Engineer
We are a leading defence organisation at the forefront of developing advanced electronic and electro-mechanical sub-systems. Our mission is to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability in our products, supporting critical defence capabilities. As part of our Proving Engineering team, we work closely with sub-system and test equipment design teams, as well as experts in EMC, mechanical, and climatic testing.

Job Title: Electronic Trials Engineer
Location: Stevenage
Salary: Circa £55,000 (depending on experience)
Working: Hybrid (typically 3 days per week on-site)

As part of our Proving Engineering team, we work closely with sub-system and test equipment design teams, as well as experts in EMC, mechanical, and climatic testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical, climatic, and EMC qualification trials for electronic and electro-mechanical sub-systems.
- Develop structured trial instructions based on verification plans and requirements.
- Oversee test execution and ensure high-quality reporting for certification activities.
- Collaborate with sub-system and test equipment designers to bring qualification campaigns to completion.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and security standards during testing.
- Work with specialists in EMC, mechanical, and climatic testing to validate designs before production.
- Conduct rigorous testing at dedicated facilities in Stevenage and Bristol.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong understanding of electronic and mechanical engineering principles.
- Knowledge of EMC and/or RF testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with actuator and radio technologies.
- Experience creating structured trial instructions and high-quality test reports.
- Ability to interpret specifications, design documents, and safety sheets.
- Hands-on experience conducting field and laboratory trials.
- Experience testing hardware in mechanical, climatic, and EMC environments.
- Proficiency in setting up test equipment and Units Under Test (UUTs).
- Awareness of quality control processes and best practices.
- Experience handling ESD-sensitive devices and safe manual handling procedures.
