Project Controller (Planning)

Salary:£45000 - £52000 per annum
Location:Hertfordshire, South East, England
Consultant:Adam King
Telephone:01202 204 094
Email:adam@electusrecruitment.co.uk
I'm recruiting a Project Controller with hands-on planning and scheduling experience for a permanent position supporting complex defence engineering programmes in Hertfordshire. The salary is normally £45K-£50K, with up to £52K possible for exceptional candidates. Hybrid working typically involves 2-3 days per week onsite.

This is not a general PMO reporting role. You should have personally created, maintained or analysed project schedules and be confident explaining how the schedule affects project delivery.

What you'll be doing
  • Building, maintaining and validating project schedules, baselines, milestones and dependencies
  • Reviewing critical paths, progress, delays and the impact of changes on delivery dates
  • Working with project managers, engineers and wider Project Controls colleagues to assess performance
  • Supporting project health reporting, schedule risk assessment and forecasting decisions

What we're looking for

  • Genuine hands-on experience creating and maintaining schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or another dedicated scheduling tool
  • Experience with schedule logic, milestones, baseline management and practical change control
  • Evidence of project planning in defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or another complex technical environment
Primavera P6 is particularly desirable, but strong Microsoft Project experience can qualify. Exposure to Schedule Risk Analysis, Earned Value Management, resource loading or Estimate at Completion is useful rather than mandatory.

Location and eligibility

  • Permanent, full-time position in Hertfordshire with typically 2-3 days per week onsite. Additional attendance may be required during onboarding.
  • British citizenship and eligibility for the relevant UK security vetting are required. Dual British nationals may be considered subject to programme-specific checks.
  • You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Common questions

Do I need current SC clearance? No. Existing clearance is helpful, but not essential if you meet the eligibility requirements for the role.

Is P6 essential? No. Genuine scheduling experience with Microsoft Project or another professional planning tool can also be considered.

Interested?

Please apply with your CV, showing examples of schedules you have personally built or managed, the tools you've used and whether you can attend a Hertfordshire work location regularly.
