They specialise in helping clients navigate the complexities of rail projects, whether it’s introducing new rolling stock, implementing signalling schemes, or making critical infrastructure modifications. The Role
As a pivotal member of our UK Safety Team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of rail safety. Your expertise will directly impact the industry, ensuring that passengers, operators, and communities can rely on safe and efficient rail systems.

Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership
Lead safety-related projects across various domains: signalling, control systems, rail operations, infrastructure, electrification, software, human factors, and rolling stock.
Define and meticulously analyse safety and reliability requirements, conducting thorough design safety and reliability assessments.
2. Hazard Management
Identify and assess hazards, maintaining comprehensive hazard logs.
Develop compelling safety arguments and safety cases, effectively communicating risk-related information to stakeholders.
3. Compliance and Best Practice
Implement a consistent and auditable approach to identifying Safety and RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) requirements.
Advise clients on current best practices, including relevant legislation and standards (such as CENELEC 50126/50128/50129 and IEC 61508), and guidelines.
Stay informed about European developments in risk assessment and management.
4. Business Development
Contribute to new business development by identifying potential opportunities and actively participating in proposal creation.
About You
Education and Professional Credentials
University-educated with a degree in Engineering, Science, or an equivalent field.
Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
Membership in relevant professional institutions (e.g., IET, SaRS, IRSE, IRO).
Experience
A solid background in the UK Rail industry, ideally with safety-related roles (beyond signalling and brakes).
Proficiency in preparing Safety Cases.
A proven track record in producing safety analyses (System Fault Tree Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, Common Cause Failure Analysis, etc.).
Familiarity with ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) principles.
Effective Communication
Ability to collaborate seamlessly with clients, both in face-to-face meetings and through remote interactions.
Strong relationship-building skills and a proactive approach to identifying business opportunities.
Professional Integrity and Flexibility
High personal integrity and professionalism.
Willingness to travel across the UK and potentially overseas to client offices.
The successful candidate will be required to achieve UK MOD Security clearance.
